Dean Miscamble - Psychologist
BPsySc (Hons), MProfPsych, MClinPsych (Post Reg), MAPS
Dean Miscamble is a psychologist based in Paddington Brisbane, providing trauma-informed, evidence-based therapy for adults both in-person and online across Australia.
Dean works with people experiencing a wide range of psychological and emotional difficulties, including trauma, anxiety, depression, burnout, relationship difficulties, addiction, identity concerns, sleep disturbance, and complex or long-standing internal struggles. Many clients seek support after feeling stuck in repetitive patterns, overwhelmed by emotional experiences, or finding that standard coping strategies or brief therapies have not fully addressed the deeper issues underlying their distress.
Dean has a particular interest in working with complex and developmental trauma, including the lasting impact of early relational experiences, chronic stress, emotional neglect, and adverse life events. Therapy focuses not only on symptom reduction, but on helping clients better understand themselves, process difficult experiences, and create lasting emotional change.
His approach is grounded in warmth, curiosity, compassion, and collaboration. Dean recognises that every person’s story, history, and nervous system are unique, and therapy is tailored to each individual rather than applying a one-size-fits-all model. Sessions aim to provide a calm and non-judgemental space where clients can safely explore thoughts, emotions, patterns, and experiences at a pace that feels manageable and supportive.
Dean integrates a range of evidence-based and trauma-informed approaches depending on the needs of the individual, including:
- Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
- Internal Family Systems (IFS)
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)
- Mindfulness-based approaches
In addition to therapy, Dean provides comprehensive psychological assessments, adult ADHD assessments, and workplace injury support, including WorkCover Queensland services.
Dean believes therapy is not about “fixing” people, but about helping individuals better understand themselves, reduce suffering, and reconnect with a greater sense of clarity, meaning, and self-compassion. Whether someone is seeking support for a specific issue or simply feels that something in life is no longer working, therapy can offer an opportunity for deeper understanding, healing, and change.
Psychtherapy Psychology offers appointments in Paddington Brisbane, with online telehealth services available Australia-wide.
